3. Volcano Corp.(VOLC Quote) jumped 8.9% to $18.90. Shares of the cardiovascular equipment company have risen 21% during the past month. The numbers: Volcano swung to a third-quarter loss of $4 million, or 8 cents a share, from a profit of $740,000, or 1 cent, a year earlier. Revenue increased 22% to $54 million. Volcano's gross margin was unchanged at 66%, but its operating margin fell from 1% into negative territory. The company has $129 million of cash and $50,000 of debt. The stock: We rate Volcano "hold." Its stock has returned 28% during the past year, beating the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 Index and earning a performance score of 6.3 out of 10. However, our model gives the company lackluster grades in all other categories. During the past three years, Volcano has grown revenue 56% annually, on average. Negative operating and net margins present ongoing concerns. http://www.thestreet.com/story/10655421/1/volcano-brigham-lead-high-flying-stocks.html
